Simul iustus et peccator

"When I was in high school, the mother of one of the girls in our church youth group stopped me after the evening service and said, "My daughter went to the movies the other night and was horrified at the terrible language in the film. She had never heard such language in her life".

I couldn't figure out why she was telling me about her daughter's experience unless it was because she considered me to be such a spiritual giant in our group. So I took the bait and asked, "If the movie was so bad, why did your daughter go?" Once she had me hooked, she replied, "well, a week earlier she was driving past the cinemas and saw you and your date lining up to see the film. She reasoned to herself that if this movie was okay for Robert Jeffress then it must be okay for me."

None of us live in a vacuum. The choices we make have a profound impact on others and therefore on the kingdom of God. They either encourage others to be fully devoted followers of Christ or discourage them. Realizing that provides most of the guidance we need when considering the grey areas of behaviour"

- Robert Jeffress in "Grace Gone Wild".

How often do you think about the choices you make and the impact it makes on others around you? We walk around proclaiming we are Christians, that we love Jesus. Yet we spend our time and entertain ourselves playing games where we get to shoot other people, watching movies that promote fornication and foul language, as well as the occasional visit to a club where we surround ourselves with people who love drunkenness and promiscuity. Why? How can we talk the talk and not walk the walk? So many of us and I included are so guilty of this, and we need to repent, but how do we when the world today, the entertainment on tv, the street fighting/tekken bash and shoot each other up games, are just ... that - entertaining. How is it that we are of the Spirit yet still so in love with the flesh?
